How can you overcome feelings of aversion to drinking your own golden elixir?
Most of the issues related to drinking urine have to do with societal norms, psychological blockages or myths.
The fact of the matter is, urine has been used as a healing therapy for thousands of years by Indian cultures and Chinese cultures in Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine. Our culture has become quite soft in our openness to “alternative therapies” especially those which involve our own secretions. Blood, Semen, Urine, Breastmilk are “taboo” substances because society has taught us to be scared of them. They are perfectly normal and part of our everyday life.
Urine is no different. The biggest myth is that Urine is toxic. It simply isn’t so. Countless studies from NIH or PUBMED will confirm this. It’s just a societal “myth” that people believe to be true but do not do the research to get the facts.
The fact remains that urine is NOT a toxic substance, nor is it a waste product.
Feces IS a waste product, however. Remember, the kidneys, which filter urine from the blood are NOT meant to process poisons or toxins.
The second biggest issue is the psychology around drinking urine. What will your family, friends, kids, associates, or business contacts say? This is an issue that plagues most people. We care too much about what other people think and say about what we do. Those who start revolutions are first considered crazy…and then everyone eventually gets on board. But because they are too scared to walk a different path, go against the grain, or step out of the matrix, they become lemmings and just listen to the masses. This is not going to get us anywhere. There are too many forces at play including pharma, news, big box food to overcome. Let us just for a minute take an open mind and approach to understanding urine and the benefits of urine therapy.
COMPARISONS TO BLOOD
Throughout the civilized world, blood and blood products are used in the medical world without evoking the repugnance associated with urine. We often use pre-packed cells, plasma, white blood cells and countless other blood components. Urine is a byproduct of blood that has filtered through the kidneys.
TASTES BETTER THAN MILK & CHEESE
We see babies being breastfed and we are not filled with repugnance. We drink cow's milk and eat cheese from cows, goats and other animals without a second thought. We eat dairy products in the form of blue cheese (molded) or as sour drinks such as yogurt and buttermilk, not to mention all the other bizarre things which are considered to be delicacies.
COLOR LIKE BEER, WINE
If it is not the color (and it is not, because we drink wine, beer and fruit juice of the same color); and if it is not the smell (and it is not, because we consume considerable amounts of cheese which smell much much worse) and if it is not the temperature, then perhaps it is the taste.
ACCLIMATING TO THE TASTE
Everything you eat and drink has an effect on your body and consequently on your urine. The healthier your dietary habits are, the better your urine will taste.
Remember, urine therapy in itself does not perform miracles. Unless you provide your body with the essential minerals and nutrients, it will not possess the raw materials needed to maintain good health.
If you eat healthily and consciously, your urine will contain many essential nutrients which can be reused and reabsorbed through drinking it again or applying it topically. Even so, the body may have a deficiency of certain nutrients if they are not supplemented by a complete range of foods. Urine does not magically create the deficient nutrients that you are not consuming in your diet.
In the long run, this deficiency within your diet may result in illnesses and ailments. The human body is not made to digest and absorb the many harmful additives to which we are nowadays exposed. Chemical products and radiation added to food products have been proven to be very harmful.
TAKE SMALL STEPS IF YOU CANNOT DRINK URINE AT THE BEGINNING
While taking urine into your mouth might be too big a step to begin with, start slow. Begin by rubbing a drop onto your hand and smell it first. Sometimes that can help you to overcome the taste. Massaging into the skin is a great way to acclimate to urine, as you do not have to ingest it. Over time, your body will become used to the smell, and you can wash it off with a shower.
Over time, you’ll get used to it.
Start by drinking a drop or two each day.
Then a sip or tablespoon.
Then a full glass.
Soon, you’ll be drinking liters of urine in no time.
This is the most comfortable way to allow your body, mind and soul to become accustomed to this therapy.
